ZSM - Student Projects
Zagreb's School for Management – Tourism Study encourages the students to develop organizational abilities and communicational skills by including them in it's own promotional activities and by supporting them in realisation of student's projects. Therefore the students participate in the promotional activities of ZSM Tourism Study on Festival of Universities, as well as in the presentation of the study program in Croatian's grammar schools.
Up till now the students themselves initiated two projects: "As it Used to be on the River Sava" and "Tourist Sunday".
Project "As it Used to be on the River Sava"
Idea. Paris – a romantic boat tour on Seine...Franckfurt – tourist boat tour, marathon and other manifestations by Maine... USA – native Indian life by the river and authentic weddings ... Bangkok – floating market and sighteeing tour in authentic boats …. The list can be quite long. Inspired by the examples of other towns in which created activities, as well as everyday life by the river becomes the tourist attraction, the ZSM students realized the possibilities of river Sava and it's Zagreb's surrounding.
Goal. The project "As it Used to be on the River Sava" wants to point out the potentials of river Sava which offers the numerous possiblities for various events which can be of interest for the citizens of Zagreb, as well as for the town visitors. The citty of Zagreb can have more intense relation with it's river and through that it can enrich the tourist supply. This project has an additional dimension, the humanitarian task – to collect the finances for the wards of the orphanage in Nazorova street.
Description (content). In attempt to revive a part of the town's history („rafting on Sava“), every year the rafting regattas are organised. Regattas consists of 15 boats equiped with 6 to 8 rowers – students, lecturers, media representatives and other attendees. The starting point of the regattas is by the Old Railway Bridge, and the finishing point is the Freedom Bridge. After the rowing various sports and the activities by the river Sava are presented, for example soccer, „speedmington“, bowling … etc. The visitors can attend the exhibition of the old photographs. The topic is „As it Used to be on the River Sava“, and it is accompanied with the evergreen music. Apart from the old photographs, some recent photos of manifestations by Sava organized by ZSM students are also exhibited. The finish of the regattas is celebrated with music, dance and short plays.
The first regattas on the river Sava was organised in the year 2005.
Project „Tourist Sunday“
Idea. "Tourist Sundy" tourism oriented educational program which ZSM students create for the wards of the orphanage in Nazorova street. The finances for this project are collected during the regattas on the river Sava. In this way the students place their talents and interests in the function of the humanitarian goals.
Goal. With this project the students are trying to enrich the time of their parentless citizans through „family“ sunday, through friendly attention and play, which their little citizans need, but unfortunately don't have. It can be said that this project in a way differs from all the others, wich main goal is the financial needs.
Description (content). In accordance with the direction of the orphanage the „Tourist Sundays“ are organized. For each „Sunday“ the students prepare a special programe which includes the various games which they have created, as for example: A search for the treasure, (a game in the park Bundek), We are making a puzzle (an outdoor game which asks for various skills), Let's play speedminton (something similar to badmintona), Big chass playing, Wild life of the Jarun lake etc.. The children participate in the finish of the regattas on the river Sava organised by ZSM.
Students project „As it Used to be on the Rivar Sava“ continues it's tradition. Therefore the traditional regattas will be held on 15th of July 2008. As usualy the students are organising a humanitarian action for the wards of Nazorova street.
